Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas Go Missing in New US Open Mixed Doubles List Amid Break-Up Reports
The US Open revealed their official list of entries for this year’s mixed doubles tournament, and Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa are not present. Tsitsipas and Badosa have been one of tennis’ most popular couples and were in the initial list that came up in June.
Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa Absent From Updated US Open Mixed Doubles Entry List
The US Open has adopted a new mixed doubles format which will take place during the opening week of the tournament’s Fan Week. An entry list for the competition came out last month, that had several high-profile pairs, including Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

However, an updated entry list was released on July 21, 2025, which consisted of 25 teams but Badosa and Tsitsipas were not in it. As of now, neither of the two have clarified as to why they will not compete at the US Open.

Badosa and Tsitsipas’ absence from the mixed doubles event at this year’s US Open comes amid reports of the couple breaking up. The two have competed in exhibition mixed doubles events, including the inaugural edition of Mixed Madness that took place during Fan Week of last year’s edition of the New York Major, winning it after beating the team of Amanda Anisimova and Taylor Fritz in the final.
Another notable pair who were on the initial entry list but not in the updated one were Jack Draper and Zheng Qinwen. The Chinese recently underwent elbow surgery after suffering an opening-round exit at Wimbledon.
Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa Have Both Endured Struggles in 2025
Tsitsipas and Badosa have both had their fair share of injury struggles for a while now. The Greek has won 19 out of 32 matches so far this season but has had nothing much to show for apart from a title in Dubai.
Bad Oda suffered a second-round exit at the French Open which was followed by a dismal grass swing that ended in him withdrawing from his first-round match at Wimbledon against Valentin Royer.
As for Paula Badosa, she has handled injury troubles for a few years now and while the Spaniard had a period of resurgence in 2024, things have not looked good for her fitness-wise so far in 2025.
Nadia’s reached the semifinals of the Australian Open but has endured early exits from several tournaments due to injury. The 27-year-old most recently competed at Wimbledon, where she lost to Katie Boulter in the opening round.
Badosa will not get a chance to defend her title at the Citi Open in Washington, having withdrawn before the WTA 500 event’s commencement.
