We were very working class!” Victoria Beckham said on the Netflix show before her husband, David, walked in on her, as if he was eavesdropping, and insisted she revealed the exact car in which she was chauffeured to school. Victoria appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show and cracked up at the ridiculous moment.

The Rolls-Royce moment was by far the most hilarious in the “Beckham” docuseries, which aired on Netflix in 2023. For those who missed it, we’re here to help.

“We’re very working, working class,” Victoria Beckham says, sitting on a dark green sofa, wearing a white shirt and blue jeans, and trying (and failing!) to look relaxed.

The door opens, and her husband, David Beckahm, pokes his head, as if he had been eavesdropping all along: “Be honest!” he asks her.

Victoria Beckham: “I am being honest!”
David Beckham: “What car did your dad drive you to school in?”

Victoria Beckham: “So my dad…”

David Beckham: “No. One answer. What car was it?”

Victoria Beckham: “It’s not a simple answer, because my dad…”

David Beckham: “No, no, no, no, no.”

Victoria Beckham: “Okay, in the ’80s, my dad had a Rolls-Royce.”

David Beckham: “Thank you!”

And he walked away, leaving his wife baffled in a terribly embarrassing moment, in which she seemed to try to fabricate a story totally different from reality, since “Rolls-Royce” and “working class” don’t really go hand in hand.

The conversation became the talk of social media as people were amused to hear about a working-class man driving a Rolls-Royce and how young Victoria hated going to school in the luxury sedan.

The former Spice Girl/current fashion designer and entrepreneur has finally cracked the viral sequence in the four-episode docuseries, which was released in October 2023, on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Victoria insisted that her dad was actually an entrepreneur who had come from nothing. He used to drive a van, which also served as a means of transportation for the items he had to carry around. “He used to drive us to school in a van, and we were happy,” she recalls.

However, his business began to flourish, and he started earning money, so he soon transitioned from the beat-up van to a Rolls-Royce. “We were devastated. We used to beg him: ‘Please take us in the van!’ So we were keeping it real!” she insists.

Fifty-one-year-old Victoria Beckham revealed that her husband, now Sir David Beckham, talked her into saying “Yes” to the Netflix show and that she started seeing it as an opportunity to let the world see she was no longer a Spice Girl, wearing mini-skirts and lip-singing, but a businesswoman whose name had turned into a brand in over 20 years in fashion.
