The Serbian legend is arguably the greatest tennis player of all time, and has all the numbers to back it up.

Djokovic is a 24-time Grand Slam champion, 40-time Masters 1000 champion, and has spent a record 428 weeks as world number one.

He’s also made several intelligent moves away from tennis and invested in a football team last year.

That team is now just five points off the top of the league, and sits in the promotion spots, as Djokovic and co. eye a place in the top division.

Le Mans FC could be promoted to Ligue 1
In August 2025, Djokovic and a group of investors bought a stake in French Ligue 2 side Le Mans FC.

Other notable investors include ex-F1 drivers Felipe Massa and Kevin Magnussen.

Le Mans is best known for its historic 24-hour motorsport race, but the football team has been around for 40 years.

They have predominantly been a second division side, but enjoyed six years in the top flight (2003/04, 2005/06, 2006/07, 2007/08, and 2009/10.

Their highest finish was ninth in Ligue 1, back in 2007/08.

However, since they were relegated from Ligue 1 in 2010, Le Mans FC were unable to return to the top tier of French football.

Legal challenges saw them fall as low as the fifth tier in 2016/2017, but they slowly climbed their way back up to the ‘Championat National’, the third tier.

Finishing second last season, Le Mans FC were promoted back to Ligue 2 after a five-year absence.

Making 13 signings in the summer, Le Mans adapted to the second tier quickly, and find themselves in a promotion play-off place 17 games in.

The side are 4th with 30 points, which would see them qualify for the promotion play-off quarterfinal if the season ended today.

Only time will tell if they go up, but Djokovic will certainly hope they do!

Djokovic wants to see Le Mans FC succeed, but they weren’t his first footballing love.

The 38-year-old has long been a fan of AC Milan and has attended several games over the years.

In 2014, members of the AC Milan squad attended Djokovic’s match at the Shanghai Masters, strengthening his relationship with the team.

AC Milan are currently 2nd in Serie A, one point off rivals Inter.

While Djokovic may be keeping an eye on the world of football, his attention will now be on his Australian Open preparations.

Before his Grand Slam campaign begins, he will take part in the Adelaide International ATP 250 event, which starts on Monday, January 12.
