Paige Spiranac, a golf influencer and content creator, has been receiving rude comments online regarding her recent showing in the Barstool Internet Invitational on YouTube.
Spiranac, who usually doesn’t participate in the Invitational, was in tears on her Instagram story after receiving hate comments for being on the Youtube episode.
And she has now responded to a vile post on X insulting her with and claiming she got the rules for the event changed. She responded to the foul-mouthed post: “Mondays are always so much fun lol new episode of the Internet Invitational is out…
“1. The barstool/BDS team picked me as one of the 4 captains. I didn’t pick myself. 2. Micah, Peter, and Brad would absolutely smoke me from the same tees so it wouldn’t have been fair for anyone on my team.
“3. I said “we won that draft” to my team to pump us up for tomorrow. 4. Hand up I was annoying lol 5. Funny how everyone says I’m so terrible and one of the worst there until the draft and all the sudden I’m stacking my team.”
A few days earlier, Spiranac posted a screenshot of one direct hate message that she had received, and the anonymous user wrote “I f—— hate you. You stupid bitch think you’re so much better than everyone at the internet invitational. Go kill yourself you stupid c—” Spiranac was receiving hate because of her showing in the $1 million Internet Invitational.

Spiranac then took to Instagram live when she said: “This hate, for some reason, has just been really hitting home for me,” she said. “I struggled socially my entire life… in big groups of people, making friends, keeping friends, relating to other people, reading social cues, saying the right thing at the right time.
“I know it might sound weird considering what I do, but I’m just not effortlessly liked.… So, at the end of the invitational, I was really excited because I felt like I could fit in in the industry.”
The YouTube series and Invitational includes a widespread audience and gets up close and personal with the 48 golfers and creators that are included. Spiranac’s team advanced past the opening matchups in the first week, which means she gets to compete for the prize.
“So it’s just been really hard to see this reaction to being unliked and hated… I know there are more important things in life than wanting to be liked and I want to fit in — and I’ve tried for a lot of my life to find places where I can fit in. And when I was at the Internet invitational I felt really good… It was nice to feel that way,” Spiranac said.
“And then now to watch it back and the deep insecurities of childhood whatever is coming all back and its confirmation that no you’re actually not liked, you’re annoying, and no one likes you — and you suck and you’re terrible and all these things. And it’s just hard because you feel good in that moment.. then it’s like just kidding.”
The following morning, Spiranac then posted “Hi good morning. Sorry for being emo last night but thank you again for all the super kind messages,” wrote Spiranac. “I’ll save my deep dark insecurities for therapy next time lol.”
More people have taken to social media claiming that they changed the rules for her, as Spiranac is usually taking notes during the event, and took to social media to explain herself, which some also said wasn’t necessary.
“Since people keep asking…Riggs asked me to help him in the draft and with the pairings at the Internet invitational. Frankie then drafted me 3rd so I could help with the draft and pairings.
