Djokovic continues to break records in Shanghai, and it’s been given a huge opportunity to lift the trophy at the tournament he has won on four occasions.
Carlos Alcaraz’s withdrawal from the competition, as well I’m as Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev’s exits, have made Djokovic the only player in the top five left in the tournament.
The star has been gifted his kindest route in years to lift another trophy, and it could help him break a Federer record.

That might give Djokovic the motivation to join some of the other European tournaments before the end of the year, including the Paris Masters and the ATP Tour Finals.
With some of the top players hitting a gruelling wall of fatigue, there’s every chance Djokovic can roll back the years with some more wins in 2025.

Djokovic could win the Shanghai Masters without playing a single player inside the ATP Tour top 10 after several high-profile exits.
The Serbian will play Jaume Munar in the fourth round with Djokovic holding a 100% record against the Spaniard.
The quarter-final will likely see the star face Gabriel Diallo, which will be a first time match up on the ATP Tour.
Holger Rune should be Djokovic’s semi-final opponent and the Dane has tasted victory over the Serbian on two occasions.
On current form, a likely final for Djokovic would be either Alex De Minaur or the resurgent Daniil Medvedev.
