Aryna Sabalenka is on the verge of making history in women’s tennis. The world No. 1 could break the single-season earnings record set by Serena Williams back in 2013, reports tennis365.com. It’s also worth noting where Iga Świątek stands in this race.
Sabalenka has currently earned $12.313 million (around 44.0 million PLN) this season and can still increase that total during the WTA Finals in Riyadh. Winning the prestigious event without losing a match could bring her an additional $5.235 million (around 19.0 million PLN).
That would mean the Belarusian could finish the season with a record $17.6 million (around 63.9 million PLN) — a new all-time high in women’s tennis. For comparison, Serena Williams earned $12.385 million (around 44.6 million PLN) in 2013, significantly less.
Iga Świątek Also in the Race for History
Iga Świątek, too, has a shot at making history. The Pole has already earned $9.417 million (around 34.2 million PLN) in 2025 and can still boost that number. A flawless WTA Finals victory would allow her to surpass the $14 million (around 50.8 million PLN) mark.
Świątek, who came close to the $10 million barrier in both 2022 and 2023, could thus join the elite group of players who have earned over $10 million in a single season.
The tournament in Riyadh will be decisive — it’s there that we’ll find out whether Sabalenka dethrones Serena Williams and whether Świątek can break her own record and climb into the top five all-time.
