Emma Raducanu pulls out of the Miami and New Jersey, leaving Alcaraz without his planned partner.
Carlos Alcaraz made headlines on Tuesday for two major reasons: the announcement that he will compete in the 2026 Laver Cup next September, and his withdrawal from the Davis Cup due to injury.
A swelling in his right hamstring has forced him to pull out of a competition he had hoped would cap off an outstanding season.
The main reason behind his decision is the risk of aggravating the injury and jeopardizing his participation in the Australian Open—his top priority over the coming months.
For now, Alcaraz must rest and recover, as uncertainty remains over whether he will be able to take part in two exhibition events scheduled in the coming weeks: on December 7 in New Jersey and December 8 in Miami.
In both events, he was set to appear alongside Emma Raducanu, one of the most high-profile and in-demand players for these types of showcases.
However, the British star announced on Monday that she would not be able to play due to a bone bruise in her right foot.
Raducanu’s spot will be filled by Jessica Pegula, who will team up with Alcaraz in a mixed doubles match in New Jersey against Amanda Anisimova and Frances Tiafoe—Alcaraz’s opponent in the men’s singles match.
A day later, in Miami, Alcaraz will face Joao Fonseca, while Pegula and Anisimova will once again meet on court.
In the coming days, it will become clear whether Alcaraz returns to action in the United States or opts to focus solely on preparing for the Australian Open, where he aims to capture the only Grand Slam title missing from his résumé.
