David Beckham reveals one thing he sometimes does in bed that Victoria hates.
David Beckham has been retired for almost a decade but his obsession with football has not waned and still gets between the Manchester United great and wife Victoria at times.
Despite being one of the most iconic couples in sport, David Beckham and wife Victoria still have their little annoyances with each other. And it seems it’s Manchester United legend David who has one habit in particular that irritates his spouse.
Football continues to play a significant role in the Beckhams’ lives, even though David has been retired for more than a decade. He hung up his boots at Paris Saint-Germain back in 2013, but his passion for the game didn’t end there.
Beckham has used a portion of his substantial wealth to purchase stakes in teams such as Inter Miami and Salford City. During a recent victory for the Ammies over Swindon Town, he confessed to a habit that irks his wife.
When asked if he watches a lot of football, he admitted to Salford’s official YouTube channel: “I do actually. I do. There’s just something…even if it’s on in the background, I love it.
“Victoria hates it. But she hates the fact that when I’ve got the football on in the background, she’s like, ‘You’re not even watching it.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, but [smiles]…'”
Posh’ might have hoped her husband’s obsession with football would diminish after his playing career ended. However, his investments over the years suggest otherwise.
Victoria was probably well aware of what she was getting herself into when she began dating the United icon back in 1997. However, more than 25 years after their initial encounter, Beckham has revealed his football obsession occasionally still causes friction in the bedroom.
I was very professional and regimented, actually,” he said when questioned about any pre-match rituals during his playing days. “Always used to eat the same food, do the same thing, bed early.
“If I was wearing a new pair of boots, I used to wear ’em in [smiles]…in bed. [I’d] try not to fall asleep but would fall asleep sometimes wearing the boots. Just so they’d mould a little bit. Back in the day, you’d get a new pair of boots and they’d be quite stiff.
“So you’d bend them, throw them around a little bit, then put them on and wear them. Wear them around the bedroom…don’t do it anymore obviously. Every now and again for Victoria, y’know [laughs].”
It’s evident marrying a footballer means accepting their fixation well beyond their playing days. Nevertheless, not every former player possesses the financial means to indulge their passion in quite the same way Beckham has.
To his credit, Becks has been spotted accompanying Victoria to innumerable fashion shows and other events throughout the years to support his wife in her endeavours. And perhaps that’s where Becks has his justification for watching (or now) as much football as he desires.
