David and Victoria Beckham on discipline and values when it comes to their kids.

One of the most recognized celebrity couples across the world, Victoria and David Beckham have fame not just as accomplished individuals in sports and fashion, but as a duo that has captured global attention in terms of how they are raising their sons, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper. Away from their fame, Victoria and David Beckham have occasionally provided glimpses into their values and work ethic which they believe in imparting to their children. A look at some of the top values that they’ve instilled in their kids:-Manners, respect, and core family values

A crucial aspect that the Beckham family always emphasize is the need to instil basic values such as good manners and respect. According to David Beckham, he and Victoria have always instilled discipline among their children, which they themselves experienced from their parents. For instance, he has mentioned that their children have always spoken with a focus on saying ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ from when they were toddlers, and this is apparent among their school-going children as well.

Leading by Example

According to them, children learn by watching. In the day-to-day lives of this couple, hard work and humility are important lessons. Victoria and David do not just tell their kids about discipline, but they try to lead exemplary lives themselves. As David puts it, showing consistent effort is perhaps one of the most important things they can teach them. This also goes along with the notion of not spoiling their children. Victoria has mentioned that they teach their children not just to have privileges but to value effort and achievement.

Balanced Discipline

The Beckhams describe their parenting style as being strict but balanced. They want rules and expectations understood, but they do support freedom for the kids to have fun and also self-expression. Victoria has spoken about being firm without strangling her children’s personalities-a discipline based on love, not fear.

Encouraging kindness and equality

As a father, David Beckham has also mentioned that his hope is to have sons who value women and support equality, which would be a very important value to have, given that this family is a very public one that lives in today’s society. As a father of a girl, he has called himself a feminist because he wishes his girl to have the same rights as his sons. This emphasis on equality not only affects the way the kids behave around others, but also how the kids view themselves, helping them become well-mannered and open-minded people.

Although discipline is a key factor, David has accepted that he has become less tough as a director with experience. While speaking in an interview, he stated how he learned to modify from being tough as a child to being a bit lenient as a parent while still maintaining a set of values.
