Only six days remain until the start of the WTA Finals. The first player to qualify for this year’s event in Riyadh was Aryna Sabalenka. The Belarusian has also already secured the year-end world No. 1 ranking. Since her exit from the WTA 1000 event in Wuhan, the 27-year-old has not appeared in any competitions. Today, her partner, Georgios Frangulis, broke the silence — he shared an update this morning, posting a message and a photo that says it all.

Aryna Sabalenka is having the most consistent season of her career. Throughout the entire year, she has not lost her position at the top of the rankings. It’s already certain she will finish the season as world No. 1. Iga Świątek no longer has even a mathematical chance to overtake her after the Finals, as tomorrow’s rankings will show her trailing the Belarusian by more than 1,500 points — the maximum number that can be earned in Riyadh.

So far this season, the Minsk-born player has captured four titles. She began the year with a win at the WTA 500 event in Brisbane, then triumphed at the WTA 1000 tournaments in Miami and Madrid. Her next trophy came at the US Open. This marks the third consecutive year in which she has won at least one Grand Slam title. The season isn’t over yet, though — the 27-year-old clearly intends to finish it with a bang, especially since she has never won the WTA Finals. Her closest attempt came three years ago, when she defeated Iga Świątek to reach the final, where she eventually lost to Caroline Garcia.

Since her painful loss to Jessica Pegula at the WTA 1000 in Wuhan, Sabalenka has stayed out of competition, opting instead for rest. She first traveled to Hong Kong, where she attended a special event, and later was spotted in Dubai, spending time with her close friend Paula Badosa.

The picture shows that the world No. 1 isn’t slacking off and is determined to arrive in peak form for the season-ending tournament. It’s certainly joyful news for her fans — and even better, Aryna can count on the support of her partner as she heads into the competition in Riyadh.

Alongside the 27-year-old and Iga Świątek, the players competing for the WTA Finals title will be Coco Gauff, Amanda Anisimova, Jessica Pegula, Elena Rybakina, Madison Keys, and Jasmine Paolini. The tournament will begin on November 1 and conclude a week later. The player who wins all five matches (three in the group stage and two in the knockout phase) will earn over $5 million in prize money.
