Emma Raducanu has made steady progress on the court this year while being caught up in a dresscode row and losing a big sponsor.
It’s been another eventful year for Emma Raducanu. The British tennis star concludes 2025 ranked 29th in the world, having netted £1million in prize money.
While she couldn’t capture a singles title, she surpassed or matched her best-ever runs at the Australian Open, where she reached the third round, and the French Open, where she bowed out in the second round. At Wimbledon, she pushed world number one Aryna Sabalenka hard, losing after two tight sets.
Once again, there have been coaching changes and injuries. She is now working with Francisco Roig, a key figure behind Rafael Nadal’s success, while her season came to an early end in mid-October amid physical struggles, which led her to retire from her second-round match at the Wuhan Open.

In March, three months before Wimbledon, she was accused of flouting a 150-year-old rule at the All England Club. Regulations stipulate that players must wear all-white attire during both practice sessions and matches.
However, the 2021 US Open champion was reportedly seen on the courts wearing “whatever she want[ed],” allegedly donning a pink outfit for a practice session. The Daily Mail reported that her actions had been “enraging members” of the prestigious club.
One disgruntled member said: “It’s so unfair. Who does she think she is? Just because she’s won the US Open doesn’t mean she can wear whatever she wants.”
The All England Club’s dress code, established in the 1880s, requires players to wear “suitable tennis attire that is almost entirely white” from the moment they step onto the court.
