During a recent press conference, Argentina Open tournament director Martin Jaite shared his thoughts on Djokovic’s potential appearance.
“If Djokovic comes to play the Davis Cup in Chile, of course, we would love for him to come play our tournament,” he said.
“It’s not something that depends on us.”
Djokovic has never played the South American ‘golden swing’ events before, as he prefers the hard-court tournaments in Europe and the Middle East.
In 2025, Djokovic played the Qatar Open, where he lost to Matteo Berrettini in his opening match.
It’s unlikely that Djokovic will change his schedule in 2026, but logically, he would be more likely to play events such as the Argentina Open and Rio Open if he is already in South America.
Therefore, a lot rides on whether or not Djokovic will actually join his Serbian teammates for their Davis Cup qualifying tie against Chile.
