Spanish star Paula Badosa, who was World No. 2 in 2022, has revealed her stance on the greatest of all time debate, choosing between Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal.
Spanish tennis star Paula Badosa, who reached a career-high ranking of World No. 2 in 2022, has shared her opinion on the eternal debate about who is the greatest player in history between Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
Speaking to Spanish TV show El Larguero, Badosa was asked for the GOAT and she said that it wasDjokovic. “He [Novak Djokovic] has everything: mentally he’s a beast. With everything he’s been through, going out and competing like this,” she said.
“Competing and being so superior in every competition seems crazy to me. And tennis wise he’s the most complete. And physically he takes so much care of himself… It’s brutal. Right now you can’t say anything other than that he’s the best. He’s shown it. The numbers are the numbers,” she concluded.
The Serbian star has surpassed both Federer and Nadal in Grand Slam titles, winning 24 so far, which is also an Open Era record. Additionally, he has held the World No. 1 ranking for the most weeks in ATP history (428) and has won the most Masters 1000 titles (40).
Badosa is looking to return to her best shape after a rough 2025 start
Despite being one of the best competitors in the WTA Tour, Badosa, 27, has suffered several injuries which have hampered her progression. Most recently, the star had to withdraw from the Miami Open due to a back injury, which will also leave him out of Charleston.
Badosa gained international recognition in 2021 when she won her first WTA 1000 title at the Indian Wells Masters, defeating Victoria Azarenka in a hard-fought final. That victory propelled her into the top 10 of the WTA rankings for the first time.
That year, she also reached the quarterfinals of the 2021 French Open. After reaching the World No. 2 in 2022, Badosa fell out of the world’s top 100 in early 2024 but made a strong comeback later in the season, climbing back into the top 15 and earning the title of Comeback Player of the Year.
