Tennis power couple Paula Badosa and her boyfriend, Stefanos Tsitsipas, have reportedly been dating since May 2023. Although there were rumors of a breakup, the couple ultimately stayed together and have remained strong as of 2025. Recently, they shared in an interview the only difference between their families that sets them apart.

In a recent interview filmed in Paris that was released on June 10 on the Tennis Channel’s YouTube channel, the couple sat down with host Prakash Amritraj to share their exclusive thoughts on their relationship.
Although Badosa was born in the United States, she moved to Barcelona, Spain, with her parents at the age of seven. In contrast, Tsitsipas comes from a Greek family background.
When asked how they manage blending two families from different cultures, Spanish and Greek, given that both are very family-oriented, Badosa and Tsitsipas spoke about the close bond between their families and how they make things work. They also pointed out one major difference that stands out in the dynamic.
The interviewer asked Tsitsipas, “I know you’re very close with your family, your brother, and Paula, you’re very close … different cultures, Spanish, Greek, how has it been the merging of families?”
Badosa shared how well her and her boyfriend’s families connect, especially their siblings, crediting their similar mindsets as the key to their strong bond.
“Look, it’s not that different at the end. I understand what can people see from the outside, but we’re not that different. The Spanish with the Greek, and we’re very passionate, we’re very family people,” Badosa said. “… It’s great because we’re all like in the same mindset, let’s say, so we really enjoy our time together and I think we get along pretty well.”
Tsitsipas said the only real difference between them is the language: “Yeah, culturally, we’re pretty much similar,” he explained.
Badosa also talked about how both families show up and bring the energy during matches. She called the couple “fire” and even dropped a nickname: “Tsitsi-dosa.”
“Yeah, it’s language, but it’s funny because both families have a lot of energy, as you can see us when we play and the families are around, so it’s when the ‘Tsitsi-dosas’ are together, it’s a lot of fire there, but in a fun way, so it’s fun.”
Badosa, Tsitsipas’s French Open 2025 Campaign
Both players made early exits from the French Open. Badosa opened strong, defeating Naomi Osaka in a three-set battle and then besting Elena Gabriela Ruse. However, she lost to Daria Kasatkina in the third round in straight sets, 1-5, 5-7.
Tsitsipas also started well, taking out Argentina’s Tomás Martín Etcheverry in straight sets. However, he fell in the second round to Matteo Gigante in four sets: 4-6, 7-5, 2-6, 4-6.
Next, Badosa, the WTA World No. 10, is expected to play the 2025 Berlin Tennis Open, a WTA 500 grass-court event beginning June 16. Tsitsipas, ranked ATP World No. 25, may compete at either the Halle Open or the Terra Wortmann Open, both ATP 500 events in Germany starting June 18.
