Emma Raducanu’s fortunes are beginning to change after an inconsistent run since her incredible breakthrough in 2021.
The British star shocked the world by winning the US Open in 2021, but a combination of form, injuries, and off-the-court personal matters has derailed the 22-year-old’s career.
Raducanu has begun to work her way back up the rankings in 2025, sitting inside the Top 50 at World No. 37.
Ahead of her Round of 16 clash with Rebecca Šramková at Queen’s 2025, the star has already achieved something she’s failed to do for the past two years.
Emma Raducanu is British No. 1 again
Katie Boulter fell to a three-set defeat to Russian Diana Shnaider on the Andy Murray Arena at Queen’s in London.
The result has dramatic consequences for both Raducanu and Boulter, who have been confirmed to overlap in the rankings.
This means Raducanu is confirmed to be the British No. 1 for the first time in two years, after Boulter replaced her in June 2025.
Raducanu’s form has improved dramatically in 2025 and the British star reached her first WTA 1000 quarterfinal at the Miami Open in March.
The Brit was impressive in her first-round display at Queen’s, dispatching qualifier Cristina Bucșa in straight sets.
Raducanu competed in the doubles with Katie Boulter at Queen’s, reaching the second round of the tournament to Erin Routliffe and Lyudmyla Kichenok.

Queen’s has been kind to Raducanu so far and the British star has explained the key difference she finds when she plays in the UK.
Queen’s takes place in her home city of London and she believes the laid-back atmosphere helps her on the court.
“I love going for walks, like knowing where everything is and also just being able to switch off and detach,” she told the BBC.
“Your friends, your family are in the city, whereas when you’re on site [at other tournaments], you see the other players and you get into that mode but [here] you can go home.”
Raducanu will be hoping to continue that atmosphere as she reaches Wimbledon, which begins on June 30.
