A royal expert has claimed that David Beckham’s wife, Victoria, could beat her husband in achieving his cherished knighthood after Kate Middleton wore her £1,340 olive green suit at the British Fashion Awards.
The former Manchester United and England football team player enjoyed a “pow wow” with King Charles during the Chelsea flower show. His Majesty revealed he had sent the player a present for his milestone celebration.
David bonded with the King over their shared love of gardening, and the Monarch sent the former footballer roses for Mr Beckham’s garden.
It came after Kate Middleton wore a dress designed by the former singer to the coveted British Fashion Awards, just a few days after the public fallout with her son Brooklyn.
And now Daily Mail columnist Ephraim Hardcastle has suggested that Victoria might “pip” David to a Damehood after she was given an OBE in 2017, 14 years after her husband, to avoid ” awkwardness.”
David Beckham allegedly called the decision to pass him over for a knighthood a “disgrace,” with fears that the star could act similarly if his wife beats him to his dream.
The column stated: “Kate’s endorsement is not seen as a coincidence. Zandra Rhodes, Vivienne Westwood and Mary Quant were all made Dames. Even Victoria’s contemporary Stella McCartney, who started with an OBE, has already been promoted to a CBE.
“But promoting Vic ahead of Dave might lead to a tantrum similar to that when he was passed over in 2017, allegedly describing it as a ‘disgrace.’ How about a consolation prize of a prickly rose named Sir Becks?”
The Princess of Wales presented the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design wearing a tailored olive green blazer and matching power suit from Beckham’s Spring collection amid the designer’s feud with her son Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz.
