Jessica Pegula has been asking Taylor Fritz for gaming tips as she looks to immerse herself in her latest hobby. The 31-year-old has enjoyed a strong 2025, winning the ATX Open before her recent run to the final of the Miami Open. She was beaten by Aryna Sabalenka on that occasion but has since followed up by reaching the Charleston Open final, where she will face Sofia Kenin.

Away from the court, Pegula has enlisted the help of Fritz when it comes to buying the best gaming equipment. She recently collaborated with Call of Duty Mobile, appearing in the Make It Mythic campaign. Asked if she was a better gamer than Fritz, Pegula was quick to name her compatriot as the superior player.

“Oh, I would assume him,” she told Tennis Channel following her semi-final victory over Danielle Collins at the Charleston Open.

“Like, I usually go to him for gaming advice, especially when it comes to traveling. I was thinking about getting a gaming laptop, so I asked him: ‘What do you use? What’s the best ones?’. Since he travels a lot with his setup, I really trust his opinion.”

Pegula also revealed that her sister, Kelly, has gained the upper hand in their recent Call of Duty battles. She vowed to spend more time practicing her skills in order to earn the bragging rights for herself.

“Kelly definitely puts in more hours than I do,” explained Pegula. “We go back and forth a lot. She played during college and we’ve been on Call of Duty for a while now.

“We took a little break, but we’re back at it on the PS5. Honestly, she’s been outplaying me lately because she’s been logging more hours. I’ve got to step up my game.”

Keeping up with the gaming theme, Pegula was then asked which magical superpower she would choose to have on the tennis court.

“I don’t know,” she replied, before pausing and answering: “Super speed. I think that would come in handy on a tennis court. I was going to say flying, but honestly, I think the speed would probably help me better.”

Super speed would certainly come in handy for Pegula when she goes up against Kenin in the final of the Charleston Open. She will be hoping for another victory to boost her confidence on clay with next month’s French Open fast approaching.
