The world number 2 in tennis was shocked during his visit to this famous football ground.
Alexander Zverev is perhaps used to asking people for quiet when he is at the centre of attention. But then again he’s never played at La Bombonera.
The current world number 2 in tennis attended the Argentina Primera División match between Boca Juniors and Independiente Rivadavia and was left stunned by the party atmosphere generated by the home side’s world-famous fan base, who always make it a special occasion in Buenos Aires.

‘I had never experienced an atmosphere like that’
“Argentine football is in another league”, he posted onto social media after the game, clearly in awe of the noise from the 54,000 fans in the stands. “I had never experienced an atmosphere like that one.”
In the match, Boca Juniors came away with a 2-0 win against Independiente Rivadavia, thanks to second half goals from Merentiel and Zeballos. After the win, they sit in 9th position in Grupo A of the Argentine Primera División.
It was a crazy match day that saw Defensa y Justicia carry on their solid start to the season with a 0-1 win over lowly Newell’s while Estudiantes got three points as Racing slipped up, losing to Tigre in a close game at Monumental de Victoria.
Zverev was in Argentina to play his first match at the Buenos Aires ATP against Dusan Lajovic, who he put away in fine fashion, winning 6-4, 6-4 in 1 hour and 37 minutes in what was his first match since the Australian Open final. He will now move onto the quarterfinal stage.
